RE:RE:RE:Back up power

RE:RE:RE:Back up power Perfect analogy and one I've used myself many times in discussion with friends.
The narrative is EV's will solve our GHG problems because of their "0" emissions.
My chemist friend says bunk!   They are as carbon intensive as fossil fuel vehicles
when one considers all the materials required for their production.  And then there
is the problem with the batteries. They can try and recycle them but advances in
battery tech will make the old batteries obsolete before recycling can have any
sustainable impact.   Not exactly the panacea gov'ts and environmentalists are
expecting.   It all looks good on the surface with the "0" emissions tag but it is far
from carbon neutral.

On another note,  Biden's administration thinking of rolling back gasoline taxes to
help consumers.  Novel idea like Alberta did.  BC,  an NDP gov't wants to rebate
drivers a one time $100 through their insurance.  Wow,  whats that these days?
Equivalent to 1 free tank of gas!  How about rolling some of the gas taxes back
for a year.  Now that might be of some real help to consumers who are getting
hosed at the pump.  Yet the standard line from Horgan is its all out of our contol.
