Sernova vs Vertex vs ViaCyte vs Edmonton ProtocolPeople are complaining about ViaCyte and Vertex getting more coverage. Let's take a peek at the current status of CLINICAL TRIALS. Not whats in the pipleline or POTENTIAL future. Let's talk about right now. Everyone uses immunosuppressants so let's leave that out of the equation.
Vertex: ENGINEERED cells that when injected into portal vein has "cured" a diabetic. No insulin required.
ViaCyte: ENGINEERED cells that when placed in their DEVICE reduces need of insulin by over 80%.
Sernova: DONOR cells, when placed in the device reduces insulin by UNKNOWN amount. Insulin independance is acheived AFTER one or 2 portal vein injections.
Edmonton Protocol : Donor cells injected into portal vein to gain insulin independance.
So based on the list, there is no innovation with what Sernova is doing IN THE CLINIC at this time other than using a Device to get the same result as the existing Edmonton protocol. The cells they got from Evotec won't be in humans for 2 years according to Evotec (see their latest AGM). Conformal coating is in pre-clinical mode and likely won't be in the clinic until after the Evotec cells.
TSX up 2% Sva down 8% - Can't blame it on the market conditions. But they are, anything but themselves. Nothing to do with Patient 7 still not implanted. Nothing to do with lack up Thyroid clinical update. Nothing to do with Hemo lost in the abyss. The biggest problem is the lack of communication from the company and knocking others work when clearly they are CURRENTLY AHEAD of Sernova based on CLINICAL DATA.
Educated comments welcome. Standard pumpers need not apply.
