Leadership vacuumCould we have worse politicians in power at such a critical time ? Both Biden and Trudeau have been shown to be corrupt , self-serving and slaves to the radical left . Energy prices are the biggest cause of this inflation brought on by reduced production capacity , a direct result of their own government policy .
This dem/lib war on O&G was as ill timed and poorly executed as Putin's invasion of the Ukraine , lots of damage but no tangible objective achieved . EV's are too expensive while wind and solar aren't reliable or practical , if half that effort had been put into carbon capture or even nuclear you would have a viable baseload supply with minimal emissions . There was never any thought put into requirements throughout the transition or the economic effects of such obstructive , over-reaching policy . But what else would you expect from a drama teacher who thinks the budget will balance itself .
ICE vehicles will be on the road for decades to come , air travel and shipping will also be requiring fuel as well not to mention power generation and petro-chemical needs . Too much of modern life requires O&G to think that it can or will be shut down . The requirement of energy security couldn't be more obvious than it is today but spineless politicians will only dodge the issue which weakens our position economically and ensures restricted production and access .
How visionary was EnergyEast ? Or Keystone XL ? How helpful would that be for both Europe and the US right now ? When governments govern based on popularity polls instead of economics and social benefit , rest assured , mistakes will be made . Harper's choices weren't always popular but the economy was strong (and survived 2008) and always front and center . On the other hand , Trudeau has spent more and given away more than any PM in Canadian history and we have nothing to show for it .
Trudeau's hypocracy continued at the G7 with his tepid suggestion of support for LNG if it could be transitioned to Hydrogen later . On face value its a red herring , Hydrogen presents a multitude of problems and unique concerns . Anything from Hydrogen Induced Cracking to leakage issues due to the molecular size of a Hydrogen molecule , pipes would need a liner or internal coating , valves , gaskets and sensors would need to be changed . Just another example of ill advised , ill prepared political tourism when leadership is called for .
When did we go from "CAN DO" to "I"ll check and get back to you" ? What's needed is a call to action , not another study group , construction not consultation . Supply is nothing without availability to market so its just more hollow Canadian talk without action as Europe see's it .
