How much does the battery pack in a Tesla weigh?
Because of its long range, the Tesla Model S has a heavy battery. The Tesla Model 3 has a 1,060 lbs battery pack. The Model X's lithium-ion batteries weigh 1,183 lbs. The Model Y's lithium-ion batteries weigh 2003 kg (4,416 lbs).May 31, 2022
Because of how and where they are installed, and the weight, I don't believe swapping is practical until new technology changes a lot of things. It will likely come at some point in time. I suggested the concept about 3 - 4 years ago and just got laughed at.
If you equate it to a fill up at a gas station when you are on a trip you should be able to pull in, open up a compartment door, unplug and remove the battery pack and replace it with the station operator for a fully charged unit. In and out in 15 - 20 minutes. Why not? Have you seen the line ups to get EV's charged at the local charging station? Innovation is the name of the game.
