Things change.
In 2018 Whitecap only had 417,400,000 shares outstanding., today, about 50% more despite recent buyback.
And yes, today it is a great value at current price IF WTI remains above US$85 until end of 2023.
Unfortunately future traders do not think so. Dec 2023 closed today at US$ 82.34
The bigger "if" is will AECO stay high for the long term, as WCP just made a huge gassy acquisition at a high cost base.
Ladies and Gentlemen....... true Whitecap had a share count of 400 k. But ........did they own Kicking hoarse , NAL , Torc , 3 private companies , and XTO the largest to date that just doubled there inventory life from 10 to 20 years.
One negative is the recent acquisition doest clsoe until end of Aug , and it presumes 200 M in positive cash balances.
This then pre supposes things are good for 2 months essentially before we even get to the close. Then we need a sting market for 9 months. If we get 3 more good months or until the end of year with Aeco pricing we are okay to good , if we get 6 more months from September or 2 Quarters . We are good to really good , and if we get 9 months we are excellent, and if we get another year like this , and we are really talking huge ifs after this year , but if we do get to one year with 4.50 or higher Aeco.
We are debt free likely.
