Interesting Points on the Solar Industry & Computer Chip Ind

Interesting Points on the Solar Industry & Computer Chip IndSome interesting points on the Solar Industry and Computer Chip Industry, thanks to @cargo from ceo.ca for this:

@cargo Here is an article that discusses the negative side of the solar industry. The solar industry has been making strides in trying to make the panels greener and more environmentally friendly (like PFAS free non-toxic coatings) unfortunately their has been no progress made with regards to how metallurgic grade silicon (MGS) is produced and refined into solar grade silicon. IMO the purevap process has the potential to be a major factor if the west/Europe plans on competing with China. $HPQ One of the biggest hurdles for the west/Europe is going to be for MGS producers to clean-up their 100 year old legacy process. That smelter plant is no longer in operation anymore but it did have the capacity to produce 26,000T of MGS.
@cargo With regards to the computer chip industry I was surprised that not only does it require a crazy amount of energy but it also requires H2O. "TSMC alone uses almost 5% of all Taiwan’s electricity, according to figures from Greenpeace, predicted to rise to 7.2% in 2022, and it used about 63m tons of water in 2019" The Intel’s 700-acre campus in Ocotillo, Arizona has 3 fab plants in operation, they are building 2 more fab plants operational in 2024 I believe at the cost of 10 Billion a piece. Not sure how many chips they can produce but the energy+H2O required for just one plant to operate for only 3 month is mind boggling. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2021/sep/18/semiconductor-silicon-chips-carbon-footprint-climate $HPQ

Long and Strong in PyroGenesis and HPQ Silicon!
