RE:STAN - OK, Instead of wining, just consider these options....
1-Quebec is known for it`s multiple rivers producing green clean energy in electricity and lots of it, in fact more than they need for their personnal consumption.
Should they just conver up the ugly dumps of mineral residus with green grass without recycling what's still good to extract from them ex. magnesium, lithium etc, instead of letting the erosion seep the asbestos dust left inparticules in the surrounding lakes and rivers of the beautiful Appalichians mountains?
Years ago the rock was blasted, crushed, asbestos extracted, then pilled up. Today it is ready to be reused at low cost! Once the last good of it is extracted, then it will be time to return back to nature these man made mountains with the help of compost and planting, which by the way is already practiced since 2015! There are 50 dumps of that kind, in the region, to recycle.
2- Magnesium is an essential component of fertilizers (and a multitude of products as well) and we must aim at becoming totally self-sufficient in Canada, not to have to depend on other countries to feed our people and farm animals. The Slavic countries are unstable and we have hundreds of millions of people with big appetite south of our borders.... You do not complain of the Potash mines of Saskatchewan do you? Was the gouvernments behind theme ever?
3-The processing used with these companies to recycle chrysotile mineral needs some CO2, which is one of the poluting gas we try to get ride the most of and it helps in doing just that!!! How GREEN can a factory get? It seems to be many ¨Green Eyes¨ watching this project... If you can see what I mean?
4-Good paying jobs will be created, more provincial and federal income tax paid by the workers and companies, less polution, ingeneers will be motivated to do better and use their knowledge and imagination in the right direction, the environment will be improved, hand in hand with the economy.
This should be an A! example of what the economy of the future should become... if we want to survive. It is not only an investment in a compay but in our future at large.
That's the BIG picture, my friend!
So if you consider and try to convince others that it is favoritism that the government is practicing, it is not!
Just admit that no one else thought of the idea before or didn't realize the opportunity.
That to be a visionnary, to pound the iron when it's hot, to support the ingeneers in putting to good use their scientific knowledge, it surely can go a long way!
It is essential ESSENTIAL in doing business, that the money must be put at the right place, at the right time, with the right people people. You also need a government that is progressive, agressive in business (the minister of Quebec originally started West Jet by the way) and present for his people!
Don't worry the investments will comme back to Canadians and Quebequers many folds, in many ways.
Have yourself a good day!
Let me take this opportunity to welcome you all to visit this region in the fall, the country side is beautiful! We even have a Museum of mineralogy (2 buildings), very interesting to explore...even underground!
Psst! Young I played hide and seek on these dumps of asbestos rocks and I decided to retire back in the fold! after spending half my life spent in the Western Canada and half in the East. Love this beautiful country from side to side!
