RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Need to Quit Worrying About Short Term Swings"THAT is MY PET PEEVE__I have NEVER been able to get even a Penny of OAS__and Never Will with my Dividend Income__Especially as the Taxable Amount is WAY MORE than theactual CASH Amount received__as you would well know eh !!!"

The "S" in OAS stands for "SECURITY" of income.
There's no "there" in the qvetching.
I'd consider myself fortunate that I make WAY MORE.
Every government in the world spent way more in the early phases of the pandemic in order to sustain the population during enforced lock-downs. Most of it was by way of subsidies to lower levels of government, to corporations, to small businesses and to millions of individuals. No one to my knowledge refused these payments. Indeed the wealthiest seem to have made off with the biggest gains in the interim.
Now that the economy is regaining its footing and in order to rebalance budgets there is every justification for governments to tax the top earners incrementally.
As long as the government continues to provide services and cuts wate, I do not begrudge my taxes.
