RE:RE:Understanding the Future of Fossil Fuel Consumption Interesting article. I enjoy Jeremy Granthem, but to be honest, he over simplifies the climate risk debate in order to further one of his biggest climate based funds.
Speaking of things investors miss.........
Lets talk global warming!
Most investors say "Case closed", humanity is causing global warming by adding CO2 to the atmosphere. While there is some truth in the above statement, the actual link between CO2 and global warming becomes quite weak when one looks over the past 60 years.
Study the graph below, I pulled it up randomly on google, it is widely available in many formats and shows the correlation between CO2 and global warming go form negative, to positive, to weak over 60 years, all the while CO2 concentration marches upward linearly.
Why does CO2 not correlate directly when viewed for 60 years???
The ESG crowd tries to avoid the question, for obvious reasons, but intelligent observers know the variation in correlation points to other causes in a complex system.
To make a long story short, most investors wont spend the time to view my chart let alone study the issue themselves!
Lots of money yet to be made in the energy complex :-)
I always enjoy the conversation,
