I think DM is on the right path.

At a fast charger, the station will most likely cut off at 80% charge regardless of the amount of KW put out by the charger, as the rest needs to be trickle-charged past 80%.  There is no financial benefit for a company to charge beyond the 80%.  It has nothing to do with the chargers and everything to do with the Battery Management System (BMS) extending the life of the batteries because of how batteries work and receive charge.  So there can certainly be some improvements there, but fast charging for 350KW fast-charging stations have shown to get the charge time down to 10-15 minutes depending on how low the battery energy supply is, size of batteries and temperature conditions.

Most EV's are currently in that 300 km range so 12 minutes is not too bad according to the chart below.  Most people on distance trips can easily spend more than 12 minutes at a gas station for break on their vacation (i.e. washroom break, food, stretch the legs, etc..).  However, there are no doubts that improvements can continue to be made.  The Lucid has a range of 837 km, but as you can see from the table below (if accurate), a person would spend a much shorter time (half the time) charging up a 300 mile-range (483 Km) car twice and get more range or distance than charging up a 500 mile-range (805 km) car once.  But of course when you are working, walking through a mall or at home you typically don't need to charge your car in 15 minutes, the car can sit and charge for longer times at lower KWs.

Miles Of Range Added 150 kW Station 350 kW Station
100 miles   (161 km) 9 minutes 5.5 minutes
200 miles   (322 km) 18 minutes 12 minutes
300 miles   (483 km) 28 minutes 22 minutes
400 miles   (644 km) 43 minutes 37 minutes
500 miles   (805 km) 88 minutes 82 minutes
