RE: Methanol-to-propyleneSome interesting thoughts here on the propolyene. Is there any logic to the view that over the longer term there may be a need to bring in natural gas in other forms) which could be in a much more easily transported form like methanol (much easier to ship than natural gas from offshore) to be used to support the ethylene conversion processes in North America?
If, as Bollie pointed out, the costs that Methanex pays for gas offshore is significantly lower than in North America, then Methanex, with its marine fleet, may be able to deliver an alternative feedstock supply to the North American plastics producers down the road.
Obviously this would be well down the road, but would it make sense?
