Resource report interpretation - significant pattern From Holdanretire 4 months ago (Reddit)
Myself and several other geos noticed a pattern in the arrangement of the biggest traps highlighted by the first resource report. These 5 aligned traps represent 757 mmboe of 999 mmboe unrisked recoverable.
We can reasonably assume that the pattern stays the same between locations 15 and 22 and several other traps might be found here. This area will also be covered by four more seismic lignes (sketched these onto the map with dotted lines). We should expect a significant increase in resources with this new data.
We also see an increase in trap seizes from north-west to south-east.
This is a significant trend, that may even be stretching further sout-east into RA's Botswana-license.
It also seems they have struck a trap with the 6-1 well (location n.8) and only barely missed a trap with the 6-2 well (location 33). Both are relatively small in comparison with the traps I highlighted. But this gives me incredible confidence in the team. Considering the few data they had, this is either incredibly lucky or unbelievable skill.
This would also explain why they cased both wells. They will likely reenter both as they are confident that both will flow (6-2 after a sidetrack). It would also explain the absolute enthousiasm the government officials had last year, they already knew then that they did hit a trap.
