Paul will be speaking on December 13 in an event organized by The Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal, the subject is below:

“Ensuring a framework conducive to the development of new pharmacological treatments”

More about the event:

“Over the past two years, the COVID-19 crisis has put the spotlight on life sciences, especially the pharmaceutical sector. This booming industry reminds us of the importance of research and innovation, the impact of which is global.

The pharmaceutical industry is one of our province's most strategic sectors and contributes directly to our growth and wealth. Let's take advantage of the collective awareness of the importance of innovation and economic development brought by this industry and seize the opportunities now!

Qubec R&D is facilitated by a large number of biotechnology and artificial intelligence companies, universities training a specialized workforce, recognized research centers, or even by a public health system that generates a large amount of data. All of this makes it possible to create diverse collaborations that enrich the therapeutic expertise of healthcare professionals, as has been demonstrated since the start of the pandemic.

In this context, it is essential to ensure that the industry has all the means to continue to be a vector of growth for Quebec and Greater Montreal. The regulatory framework must correspond to the reality of the sector by being flexible and conducive to R&D. We must also continue to attract investment and major players by promoting the strengths of the local ecosystem, while positioning Montral as an essential pole in the pharmaceutical field.

During this strategic forum, we will bring together players from the life sciences and health technologies sector to take stock and address the following three areas:

  1. Seize the opportunities for innovation created by the pandemic;
  2. Identify growth levers for the life sciences sector in Greater Montreal;
  3. Make Montreal an international life sciences hub.”
