"Spot" Lithium Carbonate = US $33/poundYCBA, good timing for Frontier's R Mills (former MD of RBC) to get a deal done with RBC, at this "spot" Lithium price of US $72,500 per metric tonne or approx $33/pound, it's a good time to make hay while the sun is shining & achieve project payback in a year or two (at lower plant capacity footprint). In any cash cow project, always important to at least get something started.
Lithium price appears to be rising about $1,000/tonne weekly as China scrambles to get supply of any form of Lithium & appears that Tesla can no longer bank on Lithium supply from California's Salton Sea as Berkshire Hathaway Energy's production of Lithium Hydroxide appears to be in question.
For instance, Chris Berry, an independent Lithium industry consultant, and not involved with Berkshire's Salton Sea Lithium project, commented, "It's an indication to me that they (Berkshire Hathaway) have some real challenges standing in their path to commercial Lithium production".
Frontier's most recent drill result of super high grade Lithium drill section, located near surface of 164 Feet of 2.98% Lithium oxide is now likely catching the interest of Tesla and Mary Barra at General Motors.
