Information on Iron Ore Pelletizing

Information on Iron Ore PelletizingHere are some interesting and informative posts/reads on Iron Ore Pelletizing, thanks to @cargo for these:

@cargo  Here is a very informative read on the evolution and growth of iron ore pelletizing. For those that take the time to read please enjoy, I am sure Vale did:) ***This was presented at the presented at the 4th EMECR, International Conference on Energy and Material Efficiency and CO2 Reduction in Steel Industry, sponsored by ABM – Brazilian Association for Metallurgy, Materials and Mining – which will be held in So Paulo SP, Brazil, on June 7-9, 2022*** https://www.researchgate.net/publication/361343916_EVOLUTION_AND_GROWTH_OF_IRON_ORE_PELLETIZING I really like the part about how the pelletisation is THE BEST WAY (above screen shot) to produce high quality pellets to feed the reduction reactors:) Also I love reading about how increasing the pellet% acts like a inverse relationship to CO2 emissions in the BF steel process, even China plans on increasing the use of pellets in BF steel making and as an overall rule, the increase in the amount of charged pellets should increase blast furnace (BF) productivity "The international pressure against CO2 emissions will favor the use of more pellets in Chinese Blast Furnaces" This is very intriguing and something I did now know about SSAB, being able to use 100% pellets in their steel making:) "but In case of EU – Europe, although most steelmakers follow the Japanese model (sintering based), there are some cases of intensive use of pellets in Blast Furnaces, up to 100%, as is the case of SSAB in Sweden"

@cargo Also I find it interesting that in the research paper I posted above talks about two different ore types magnetite + hematite. This could explain Vale's interest in the 3MW torches:) "Most recent experiences on the use of hematite ore in GK have shown that it is necessary to raise, significantly, the temperature of gases in preheating zone to increase the strength of the dried and preheated pellets at the referred transfer point. But this procedure implies in getting lower values of heat efficiency"

@cargo Here are two more informative reads on the iron ore pelletisation industry. Please enjoy, that includes the bashers:)

@cargo "US$100b will need to be spent on DR pelletisation"

Long and Strong in PyroGenesis!
