We are currently looking for a Manager, Raw Material Purchasing (Batteries) at our Corporate Office in Ajax, ON
This role is critical for achieving raw material supply security for the Canadian office of PowerCo SE (an entity to be later incorporated). Reporting directly to the CFO in Canada, with a dotted line to PowerCo Purchasing in Germany, this position requires expert knowledge of raw materials for high voltage batteries as well as upstream battery production processes. This individual will have strategic and managerial oversight and responsibility to ensure the successful achievement of the vertical integration strategy of PowerCo SE in Canada and the North American Region.
**This is a flex hybrid model, requiring 2 days in the Ajax office**
Primary Responsibilities:
Lead a team of raw material experts and business partner managers.
Hiring and budget management, forecasting and reporting responsibility for the local office.
Scouting and onboarding of new suppliers and mining projects.
Negotiate contracts with major/junior mining companies in Canada.
Establish a network in the raw material sector.
Conduct market studies, feasibility studies and business cases in the context of developing and assessing complex cooperation models.
Support new local suppliers / greenfield projects in the ramp up phase.
Liaise with counterparts in other functional areas of the Company to ensure alignment of activities and objectives.
What we're asking for:
University degree in a field relevant to raw materials for high voltage batteries.
Experience working in a managerial position relevant to raw material sourcing for high voltage batteries
Expert knowledge of raw materials for high voltage batteries, as well as upstream battery production processes.
Experience with negotiating contracts.
Strong budget and forecast management experience.
Ability to make and deliver presentations effectively.
Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; German language skills would be an asset but not required.
Flexibility for local travel and global travel as required (up to 20%)
