HiiROC ( British Co) proposed process is a variant of what is called Methane Pyrolysis, where you break down one CH4 molecule into 2 hydrogene molecules and solid carbon.
This is the dream of many chemists, and many co have worked on this, and many are still trying.
essentially, using 3 techniques: Plasma, Thermal and Catalytic methane breakdown.
Presently, GasProm is ( or was ??) the only co working on the plasma approach.
BASF in Germany is quite active on this also, trying to produce bleu or grey hydrogne, urgently required in Europe. Check this good review:

I dont think that VALE is active on this route!! ( They have other more urgent fish to fry !
