RE:RE:RE:RE:FoolsHola. The darker grey area in the top right corner of the map on slide 15 of said Presentation corresponds to Paramo Santurban, which is located above around 3,100 metres above sea level. The project is located below 2,640 m, according to Minesa.
The Project's environmental file was closed by the Colombian Ministry of Environment in January 2021 arguing that information in the Environmental & Social Study was not enough to determine the viability of the project.
Paramo is the high part of a mountain that contains special vegetation and soil conditions that allow it to hold water which is later slowly released. There has been opposition to this and other mining projects near this paramo for several reasons, including the fear that rivers in the zone may dry up and impact residents of nearby towns and cities.
