RE:CFD RESEARCH PROJECT Raphaelle2 ... NOx is generated in ALL high temperature processes, including natural gas.
Funny that you silence that. We call this hypocrisy. Or FUD, in your case.
Want me to re-post the perspective provided by PYR on that specific topic? Let me take the lead, for transparency.
Mar 18, 2021 Dear Wheresjackbenny,
We dealt with this in the Q&A last Tuesday, on March 16.
The acceptable level of NOx for an iron ore pelletizer will depend on local regulations and it is difficult to define any type of general rule. At this point, we have not experienced delays in obtaining contracts due to NOx concerns. NOx is generated in almost all high temperature processes, whether heated by conventional burners or plasma torches. As indicated in the references you have cited, there are several methods that could be used for NOx reduction in the furnaces. Staged combustion would probably not apply in the case of a plasma torch, as the torch does not combust any gas.
Suffice it to say that so far, although it is an issue plaguing the industry, we do not see this being a deal breaker.
Hope it helps

CFD RESEARCH PROJECT
As the much-vaunted application for iron ore pelletization dissipates (in favor of hydrogen technology for direct reduction iron briquettes), this computational fluid dynamics research project is, IMEO, more logical than the similar previously published study for the aluminum carbon anode baking furnace.
Hopefully this scientific study will help develop a better understanding of the nitrous oxide (NOx) issues associated with a high temperature plasma heat source.
