RE:Doug’s expectations Doug must be following the discussion on the Quarterhill google board, especially with regards to ramp up and margins.
Here's a post from a few days ago (I think there is a typo as the the backlog is C$1B, not C$1M):
Further to Mark's question, for me Q3 is mostly about margins and resultant profitability. ETC's revenue backlog is north of C$1M and it has shown its ability to win more than its fair share of awards. My analysis tells me that there should be improvement sequentially in Q3 and Q4 with F23 representing a more normal state of profitability.
I am very interested in the strategic vision for the ITS business going forward. I want to see a presentation on it. Some of the important strategic issues are:
- Obviously some indication if the acquisition strategy is still front and center; and, what are the broad criteria both in terms of adjacent markets and profitability. Can strategic alliances play a central role
- USA investor eyeballs - USA is where the money is for infrastructure and where QTRH must establish credentials. Is a USA focus strong enough to push Europe to the sidelines
- I/O Hub investment - I'd like to hear how ETC is going to leverage the E-ZPass Hub, especially transactional based revenue and tolling contracts
- ETC/IRD business building synergies - so far no not much is apparent
- Europe - is it still a core part of the strategy in view of point #1 and in view of greater issues in the economy in Europe and no large scale government infrastructure funding.
- Corporate cost savings - hinted at, but I'd like to see more meat on the initiative.
