RE:Greater certaintyThe proposed 30% tax credit for renewable energy systems and 40% for clean hydrogen investments may have fueled some optimism for the windfarm. Although the technology is young, hydrogen can be produced at sea with wind turbines.
With the tax incentives, the economics improve. Green hydrogen can compete with natural gas. Lower costs of electricity will allow for a chance to be competitive with hydro. Maybe floating turbines could become viable, instead of monopiles.
Employment benefits, attracting new industry, sustainable First Nation benefits and other factors will play into the final % amounts renewable energy developers will realize.
Will have to wait until Spring 2023 budget for the details.
