RE:Regarding Isotopes' comments on our own housing crisisNo one has bought an apartment building and keeps it empty on purpose(foreign not domestic)(not sure why or who spreads non sense like that). The problem in Canada is they lack foreign ownership laws and thusly have created a feeding frenzy of activity because of it. Back in late 80's and 90's it was Russian money laundering activity and not sure exactly who is money laundering now but the government's voracious appetite for revenue keeps these lax rules in place. The part of story that is not being talked about is what happens to city revenues and budgets as valuations decrease precipitously due to interest rates rising. Pressure will mount on cities to cut expenses(rightly so ). We will no longer be able to afford our governments (everyone else has had to balance their budgets and about time governments did the same).
