ALWYN - 1950 - DRILL HOLES Came across a historical Alwyn drilling report - thougt it was quite interesting.
The Director. Alwyn Porcupine Mines Ltd., 26 Queen Street East Toronto
Suite 1401 80 Richmond St.W - December 20,1950
The following tabulation lummarizes intersections of the shaft vein in holes
Nos. l to 7 inclusive:
HOLE #1 - 321" - 327" - 5 FT true width - .01 gold oz - .18 % copper
HOLE #2 - 265" - 269" - 4 FT true width - .03 gold oz - .78 % copper
HOLE #3 - 294" - 299" - 4 FT true width - .03 gold oz - .80 % copper
HOLE #4 - 284" - 298" - 7 FT true width - .023 gold oz - 1.22 % copper
HOLE #5 - 235" - 263" - 16 FT true width - .027 gold oz - .513 % copper
HOLE #6 - 234" - 254" - 15 FT true width - .093 gold oz - .79 % copper
HOLE #7 - 309" - 340" - 15 FT true width - trace gold - .26 % copper
370" - 420" - 25 FT true width - no gold - .12 % copper
I'd say, they were pretty modest on thier - true widths.
Though historical in nature, i'm wondering if it's possible to use the map provided in the pdf to
locate an approx to these drill pinpoints - use historical to confer with - current drills.
Hole #1 and #7 - have similar lens intercepts. ( 300 range )
Holes #2 to #6 - have their own lens range.
Hole #7 370 - 420 has an additional lens of copper
Could be a total of 3 mineralized lens at Alwyn.
Some may think veins... while on the flip....could be pancake lenses.
Quartz + Feldspar ( pancake melt ) lens.
One of their holes lost water at the 80 ft depth.
They suggested - potential fault -
What i find fascinating is...
The ore pile above grade at Alwyn, appears more like a -conglomerate - hearty mixture of
sulphide assemblage - 2 - types of copper - totally different than, quartz fault seam minerals.
I'm thinking along the lines of... the swamps and pocket lakes received mass accumilation of,
variety of ores from up north, pocketed in the low lying regions, swamps, lakes, and reconsolodated in a new matix - most of the swamps ( in reports ) were avoided - and well, they could end up hosting a far higher grade. Just an opinion, a guess.
Why share this historical data ?
Several holes were drilled at, Alwyn.
Some maps show ( hole #14 ) obviously suggesting a good 14 holes were drilled.
If BMK could incorporate any of the historicals along with their current holes...
Could / Might accellerate a resource size all the quicker for - Alwyn.
Cheers....
