RE:RE:RE:Ukraine Fatigue

"Putin is not a clone of Hitler."

Nor Stalin, nor Mussolini, but all these dictatorships had a similar rot at the core of those who have to make government, or the military work.   None of these modern-day tyrants share a comparable history as variables such as Stalin’s purge of the Red Army officer corp., or Germany’s longer custom and tradition of its own.  Mussolini’s debacle which Hitler hoped would threaten the Canal, ended up requiring his own Africa Korp to protect the Italians.

It took a year of German assault to form a new cadre of leadership in the Red Army, and then it became a horrendous blood bath.   Putin’s Army shows the same internal decay as the others.  It’s not a matter of individuals, but rather the nature of dictatorial systems themselves.  Nepotism, favoritism, and corruption all weaken the state, but this rot is often concealed with pomp and ceremony, a glittering faade backed with rusted rifles.

I know what Marines tell grunts about their rifle.  I wonder what they tell Russian conscripts to think of the junk they’re handed?
