Have a look at the jobs to housing ratio for SoCal cities near Tehachapi. They are in the unhealthy regions as there are way more jobs than houses. This has an impact on the local economy and growth.

Also look at the general impact of the housing crisis for state of Californa (est. between 140 - 230 billion/year I think).
