RE:RE:Just another 41 years of production left in Nong Yao field My old notes now enable me to understand why the life of the Nong Yao field is forecast to extend to 2063.
Nong Yao is located within the Southern portion Pattani Basin which is noted for its massive natural gas discoveries .
The Erawan gas field , located in the centre of this basin just east of our Rossukon field, began producing gas in the early 1980s and 40 years later continues to produce over 60,000 barrels of oil equivalent today, with lots of legs left in the tank.
Valeura intends to pursue a work programme further offshore on the south-eastern area of the Nong Yao field and beyond, with the objective of replicating the history of reserves renewal characteristic of Pattani basin fields.
Nong Yao itself has already produced 85 m barrels of oil within the shallower portion of this Basin where oil is dominant, so with large areas yet to be explored in the further offshore stratigraphic areas where large gas discoveries have been made, extending Nong Yao production to 2063 seems to have a basis in fact .....and such might not be too far off for the shallower oil reserves
