blackspade799 wrote: Sorry ledzep your statement is incorrect I wish it was true, fact of the matter the U.S. President can do an executive order at any time and could of used it regardless of Scheduled 1 status in fact Biden has done 105 executive orders so far this year. Biden could of done this and Chuck Schumer could of pushed cannabis through with reconciliation in the Senate but chose not to, and continues to play political theatre. Special interest groups that grease both Dems and Reps continue to hold power AKA Big Pharma, Tabacco, Alcohol and Private Jails Who are all losing maket shares to cannabis. We have 21 State now with legal adult cannabis we are are getting close but still not enough...we need a Chrismas miracle to get SAFE passed this year. NDAA is a no go, Mitch McConnel will kill off the Omnibus Bill with a poison pill and will drag it out for passage next year when the Reps take control of the House. We have run out of time for a floor vote. Chuck and Biden  f'd us and have done it with glee as they continue to collect 280E$ and collect special interest money. They are double dipping while making it look like the are trying to help us up while they keep their foot on our heads.

Here is some info on executive orders; https://constitutioncenter.org/blog/executive-orders-101-what-are-they-and-how-do-presidents-use-them
Black, I don't disagree with you, but he won't  and shouldn't sign any executive order before the US Attorney General (DOJ) and Dept of Health and Human Services (HHS) present their recommendations.

This is all about politics and gettingt re-elected, plain and simple. Biden doesn't tell the DOJ and HHS to review pot being Schedule I which he says is in his Oct. 6 statement is unjust. If you read his Oct. 6 statement, he's basically instructed them to change the classification. You don't do that and then do a pre-emptive strike by signing an executive order, that's political suicide and he would look foolish (what no politician wants going into an election).

Schumer can't just push through SAFE+ in the Senate because he needs 50 + 10 GOP (60 total) to get it passed and prevent a fillibuster.

I also mentioned a while back that big pharma was Schumer's biggest contributor and was basically told I was wrong, now it's a big issue???

Biden will not because it is not politically expedient $ and yes this is all about politics aka money. Biden told the DoJ to to review cannabis Schedual 1 status to buy them more time while the collect on 280E and speacil interest groups $s

Schumer could of pushed SAFE Through just like Biden could of pushed cannabis throuhg with an execitive order. Budget Reconciliation is a special parliamentary procedure of the United States Congress set up to expedite the passage of certain budgetary legislation in the United States Senate. The procedure overrides the filibuster rules in the Senate, which may otherwise require a 60-vote supermajority for passage by the Senate. Bills described as reconciliation bills can pass the Senate by a simple majority of 51 votes or 50 votes plus the Vice President's as the tie-breaker

Schumer, Biden are in bed with the same guys the Republicans are in bed with, its a love fest$. Its going to take time.
I'm no US political procedure savy person (I'm from Toronto, Ontario) so you may be right (and I hope you're right), but I found this on Politico that was published a week ago. The following quote from Rand Paul (R-Ky) is near the end of the article:

But the bill isn’t dead yet: Paul is still bullish on its prospects, saying he is confident there are more than 60 senators in favor of SAFE if it were to receive a standalone floor vote. Democrats left this until the last minute, though, and the chances that the Senate can find any floor time for a standalone SAFE “plus” package before the end of the year are slim.

The facts of the mater which is the Federal and some State Politicians are still dragging their feet because the collections on both sides are toooo good not to drag out. Majority of the American People Dems and Reps want cannabis. Schumer & Biden both could of passed cannabis and choose not to, and have been playing political Kabuki with the American people. Setting up smoke screems like the manoeuvre Biden did with the DoJ and Schumer did by dragging it out to the lame duck session which the Dems will blame Reps on for blocking SAFE which Schumer could of passed with reconciliation.  Its a game of hot potato they are playing which the American small cannabis retailer will hurt most. CURA still has great options with or with out SAFE. TSX, LSE or FSE listing are still on the table. American institutional investors will be hurt most if they do not find a work around current laws. Canopy Corp is carving ou the path, Curaleaf will reap the benefits one way or another.
