RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:WTF.....happy............but WTF........I wouldn't be surprised if the share price shot upward on the day AQN announces a sizeable dividend cut (if in fact that is what they end up doing, and I would strongly suggest they do so).
Market is expecting a dividend cut. Market thinks AQN needs to do a dividend cut.I f the market thought the current dividend yield of over 9.50% CDN was safe and well covered, it would've bid up the share price weeks ago.
What do you think will likely happen if AQN says no, we think we'll be fine with our debt situation without a cut to the dividend?
The market does not like uncertainty. Right now it is uncertain as to whether AQN will cut or not. If the uncertainty ends in a surprise that the market wasn't expecting and does not think is prudent (i.e., no cut), share price may drop further.
Conversely, if AQN formally declares a dividend cut like the market expected, again the uncertainty is eliminated, but this time with market approval, so the share price may jump significantlly higher on the news.
We shall see.
Would like to know when Investor Day is. They should at least announce a date before Christmas so investors know when to expect the unveiling of the company's plans going forward.
