The world will continue to rely on fossil fuels as it transitions to cleaner energy. And where will the funding for r&d for clean energy come from? From a large part the existing energy companies.
The transition will not likely be a complete conversion, but rather a blending of conventional and newer energy.
Oh, and while I'm sure you drive an electric car, and have solar panels to heat, cool and power your home, don't get any crazy notions that that the worlds fastest growing middle class economies will be jumping on board anytime soon, namely, China and India
We will see how 'green' these new technologies really are, as the cost to mine and produce the raw materials needed for said technologies, and the need to dispose of batteries, panels, etc will no doubt be a looming issue on its own.
So go ahead and stand on your soapbox, I will happily collect profits, knowing this transition will be decades in the making, because, one thing about people, they don't like change.
I agree, the energy companies are probably spending more money combined into clean energy and r and d than all the so called green energy cos combined.
I also think the electic car will end up being a disaster cost wise and energy wise, some areas with end up possibly using coal to charge them up, lol. but the mining costs etc and replacement batteries are already a bit of an issue, there's just not enough common sense in high places making some of these decissions, I'm gung ho green energy but it has to be done right and be sustainable.
cheers ferret and all the best in the new year.
