I follow OBE closely because I'm a shareholder.   When I see something that interests me, I often share it here. 

From time to time I will examine other companies in which I'm not a shareholder - I typically don't bother to write about my observations.    If I like what I see, I'm not going to write about it until after I've bought my position.    If I think I may buy later in the cycle, I'm not going to write about that either.

Which brings me back to why someone would devote time on an ongoing basis to post negative views in reply to positive posts.

If someone had built a short position, then I can see why they may share their views about why they feel a short position is a good investment.   These views however, are usually well supported.    Others may or may not agree, but the reasons (or expectations), are understandable.

However, the negative comments published on boards like this, are almost never accompanied by supporting logic.    Instead they are typically name calling, and accusations, etc.   If they had logical negative reasons, they would state them.    They don't state them becuase they don't have them.    For that reason I suspect those behind these negative comments have not created a short position.

The other possible reason is because they are accumulating a long position, and are trying to reduce competition from other potential buyers.   I think this is the most commen explanation.

When I notice someone new spending a lot of time posting numerous negative comments about a single company, I take it as a positive sign that someone is accumulating.  

There are other reasons - for example, someone who personally dislikes the CEO, acting out by publishing slander.   But I think those types are few and far between, and tend to lose interest quickly.

Very politically correct...lol.
