Edibles

Cannabis Industry Statistics 2022

How the industry is performing and where it's headed

Key findings:

  • 50% of cannabis users have increased their consumption since the pandemic.
  • Cannabis sales to female customers increased by 55%.
  • Weed sales reached $25 billion in 2021.
  • 44% of Americans now have access to legal recreational cannabis.
  • 91% of adults want to legalize weed.
  • Mergers and acquisitions of MSOs nearly doubled from 2020 to 2021.
  • The cannabis industry now supports 428,059 jobs.
  • Edibles continue to grow in popularity

Eaze’s 2022 report found that edibles were the number one purchase for every generation except Gen Z, who ranked vapes as number one in 2020 and 2021. Interestingly, flower ranked number three for all generations in 2021, with Boomers ranking it lower than they did in 2020.

Edibles will likely continue to rise in popularity as more younger cannabis shoppers turn 21 and markets mature as these two groups tend to purchase edibles more regularly.
