Bioasis Technologies Inc. is a Canada-based biopharmaceutical company focused on research and development of technologies and products intended for the treatment of patients with nervous system, including central nervous system, diseases and disorders. The Company is engaged in the development of its xB 3 platform, which is a peptide-based technology, for the transport of therapeutic agents, in particular biological products, across the blood-brain barrier (BBB). It is focused on both orphan drug indications, including brain cancers, and rare genetic neurodegenerative diseases and neuroinflammatory conditions. The Company is also focused on its Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) platform for treating rare and orphan neurodegenerative and neuroinflammatory disorders. EGF is a protein that stimulates cell growth and differentiation, notably for myelin producing cells. Its development programs include xB3-001: Brain Metastases, xB3-002: Glioblastoma and xB3-007: Neurodegenerative Disease.

Over the last few days I've had a number of shareholders tell me that the J&J/Janssen deal has been extended.

I think that extending the deal likely means that the two sides are ignoring the deadline and that Janssen's option on the drug/disease combination is still alive and well. Until the option is exercised, I very much doubt that Janssen is able to move beyond the work included in the original agreement.

But even that may not mean much. Bioasis extended Prothena's options, perhaps unilaterally, and it meant nothing.

It's not news until there's news.
