Looks like the same as Metalex’s U2 Chuck was not able to get the Metalex access road approved to the U2 diamond project for bulk sampling. The 60 km ice road had been rejected by the Attawaspikat FN despite Chuck saying that he was optimistic and MTX securing $50 million from Dundee. The U2 claims are on Crown Land but it took the Ministry a few years to finally approve the permit. However, the FN has the final day in still rejecting it. This has dragged on for 2 decades. Chuck is now saying, no talks due to Covid. It is dead.
The rejected access road to Atac's North Rackla project bears the same indicia. The road was first given conditional approval in 2017 but later rescinded by the Yukon Govt. The First Nation of Na-Cho-Nyak Dun also opposed it - just like the Attawaspikat FN - based on the fact that the 65 km road construction would impact their traditional hunting, fishing and trapping activities. It would interfere with their treaty rights and alienate them from their own land.
Chuck is trying to get someone he knows to talk to the FN people. I won't bet the farm on it despite the positive spin put on it. No talks scheduled.
