RE:A footnote January was a nice start of the year and not surprising given the non farm payroll and the China factor.
It is interesting and worth noting that advanced retail sales declined 2.15% from October to December. For the fourth quarter of 2022, advance retail sales declined 1.1%.
The Atlanta Nowcast expects real gdp growth of 2.2% for the first quarter. I believe the economy will remain hot for a few more quarters and then monetary policy and the shrinking money supply will catch up to consumers.
