they are trying to drag amd push 4000m of production casing to TD on a well that doesnt have a TVD of 1500m. The well was basically drilled veryically to about 1000m from what I know then drilled to TD. That means very low angle from 1000m MD to 4000m MD. Trying to push pipe 3000m with a 1000m pipe weight from surface is no easy thing. A simple rule of thumb is hz length equal to vertical depth. Anything beyond that can be extremely tricky getting casing down to TD let alone production tools. Ie guns to perf.
In my career we did a 2800m vert section and 4800 hz section. That was tricky and thats with a big land rig with services available. There are limits with technology. I certainly hope this well has not exceeded those limits. Just crossing my fingers
You obviously know more about drilling than anyone else here. Thanks for the helpful perspective. Keep an eye on the big picture. Even if, big if, this well is a duster, or more like a wet fart, there's always another well unless they keep missing and stink the place out. Meanwhile another earthquake in turkey today , poor friggers, and the lead story on news in T.O. Is a couple trees at a new subway stop and changes at Hanlon pt park affecting the lgtb festival and nudist beach. Turkey sure is a long way from toronto, the centre of the universe.
