Most commodity investments are like this. Loooooong periods of rangebound or sliding share price with short, quick powerful rallies as the market suddenly realizes what the company is worth and everyone else gets FOMO and piles on.
The ratio of red:green days in oil and gas has to be about 3:1 or maybe even more compared to the general market which is the reverse ratio. So it's red and painful most days. But the green days more than make up for it, at least since 2020.
Not for the faint of heart.
