RE:BNP Paribas being sued by acvocacy groups for financing oil

RE:BNP Paribas being sued by acvocacy groups for financing oilTotally OT.....but BNP Paribus is not a friend of mine.

Back in the day when people used travelers cheques, I was in Monaco and needed to cash a travellers cheque. I went to a BNP Paribus bank.

There was a lobby with a representative before you could go into the bank itself.

The lady asked me in french what I wanted and I responded in french saying I needed to cash a travellers cheque.  She then responded that they didn't have any money!!  I initially thought that perhaps I didn't understand her response and asked her again and she responded again that the bank had no money.  I then responded again in french saying..you are a bank how can you not have money?  The lady responded that they didn't have money for me since I was not a client of the bank.

I responded saying that travellers cheques are honoured everywhere and I didn't have to be a client.  She then asked me leave!!

I know that such a court case if successful (highly unlikely IMHO) would not be a good thing for oil industry but part of me is smiling that these groups are taking this A--hole bank to court.
