Position Overview:
The independent contractor will be responsible for providing remote medical care to patients in an oncology treatment program by managing individualized patient care and promoting and restoring patients' health. Responsibilities include monitoring prescription medication usage, performing prescription renewals, ordering lab panels, and referring patients to other physicians or health care specialists as needed.
Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
- Doctor of medicine (MD); at least 3 years of experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Certification and current licensure in good standing in all 50 states plus DC.
- Proven experience and comfortable providing telemedicine consultations via telephone, video, and email.
- Proficient with EMR/EHR and knowledgeable in electronic ordering of labs and medications.
- A patient and compassionate disposition.
- Ability to communicate effectively, multi-task and work under pressure.
- Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care
- Self-starter, driven, problem-solver, and committed to achieving customer satisfaction.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and demonstrate flexibility.
- Capable of working independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to uphold HIPAA compliance.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
- Triage new patients for program eligibility and refer to an oncologist if appropriate.
- Provide care using our EMR, evaluating patient records, prescribing diagnostic labs and medications.
- Conduct consultations via phone, video, or asynchronously depending on state telemedicine regulations.
- Prescribe various diagnostic tests to aid in providing accurate diagnoses.
- Analyze diagnostic tests for program suitability.
- Digitally sign and prescribe medications in licensed state(s) after completion of consultation.
- Collaborate with the patient to facilitate care coordination processes.
- Work alongside the program’s oncologist overseeing patient participation in the metabolic oncology program.
- Provide thorough and accurate documentation of patient interactions in EMR.
- Maintain relationship between physicians and senior executive leadership team.
