ASSAYING NICKEL - sodium peroxide vs peroxideIt is said EV Nickel has 2 - 3 types of nickel ores.
Pentlandite ( sulphides )
Peridotite, Komatites ( Olivines,Dunite )
Sulphides are pretty straight forward.
But... if running in irons - irons can digest extremely fast while other metals such as nickel
can take longer to go into digestion thus.,.. one has to wonder if all nickel was dissolved.
Let's scope the - Peridotite and Komattes ( Olivines )
Komatiites are high temperature partial melts of peridotite IDEA ? ( if olivines had minerals with in ) Employ, gravity separation for the - sulphides
Employ, optical eye ore sorter for the - olivines.
What type of assaying did CNC use for thier Nickel ? peroxide fusion and ICP-OES analysis https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/canada-nickel-company-announces-assay-results-and-confirms-discovery-at-reid-property-301575350.html
What type of assaying did EVNI use for thier nickel ? sodium peroxide fusion with an ICP-AES Now... when nickel goes into - solid solution - olivines - nickel silicates
One has to question what type of nickel is present ?
Nickel oxide - Nickel ion ?
Chances are... its gone into solution and = ion.
If... nickel ion
it might have a bond with - chloride/chlorite/ fluroide
which is inherantly green or yellow in coloration.
QUESTION -
Could - a ( SODIUM ) peroxide fusion interfere with a - nickel salt ion ? ( SALT vs SALT )
Versus - a straight peroxide ( H202 ) dissolution - whereas a nickel converts to oxide ?
ONLINE - ( sodium chloride example ) keep in mind nickel is diverse... it can also be a salt
What does NaCl and H2O2 make?
There is no reaction So... how does one provoke a reaction ? One must convert the sodium chloride to a -
sodium hydroxide. Let's now see what happens with a - h2o2 added
(2 NaOH + H2O2→Na2O2 + 2 H2O) There it is.... a swap occured.
Sodium hydroide + peroxide ( h2o2 ) = sodium oxide(2)
What would be a good test ? Olivine silicates dissolved in - chloride then converted to hydroxides ( added water )
Or, find out what type of olivine it is.... if chloride then use chloride to dsissolve
Then... introduce - h2o2 peroxide without the sodium -
only h2o2 It would force a swap bond - allowing the nickel if present to convert ot - oxide.
For what it costs... ( cheap ) It would be nice to see a second take on the - olivines using this format.
Rule out - any interference of ( sodium ) peroxide - which may have cancelled out the nickel detection. Use a simple chloride conversion, ( aquous ) with a plain peroxide
allowing the plain peroxide to complete a swap -
An idea for the junior.... It is said... olivines can host upto ( 0.5 % ) nickel .
My goodness... suppose the olivines did have nickel - even ( 0.10 % )
A - 0.28 % nickel would increase to - 0.38 %
Which begs.... How would a ( peroxide ) leach fair better than a - bioleach ?
Peroxide is simply water with one extra oxygen.
Power of oxygen. ( but at a concentrate of say, 30% )
Something to think about .
Which reminds me - I wonder why Anglo jumped into - CNC - at the high end stock value ?
Yes.. .CNC has extra secondary mineral credits which does create a contingency buffer...
But... sometimes more mineral credits creates all the more hassle to extract each thus reducing the recovery percentages - not to mention - slows the extractio ndown trying to pull every mineral.
While on the flip side.... one mineral smooths the process and quickens the pace of recovery and mine operations.
Speed is just as important as cost per tonne whichultimately dictates how much tonnage can be processed.
I crunched a few numbers this eve - and asked... What if EVNI did achieve a good - 500,000 tonnes of nickel in thier up coming resource calc ?
500,000 tonnes x 2200 lbs
= 1.1 billion lbs ( hypothetical ) not investment advice - could be lessor.
CNC is running 3x the nickel resource size but...
their stock is 17x greater in cost to Anglo vs EVNI's stock price.
I wonder if Anglos ( Scouts ) jumped too quickly into CNC and overlooked - EVNI ?
Does one pay a premium with only 10%
Or... calculate the value of the nearby peer with still considerable nickel pounds
And ask what would be the best bang for the buck ?
I've always wondered why majors make the moves they do...
lol
Cheers....
