I disagree with your comment that the stock market has NOW become a casino.
I'm not looking for an argument - as you already well know, none of this is new to the market place..

Stock markets are simply an auction place for the highest bidder buying from the the lowest ask..
It's all about liquidity. I've often used the analogy to people who are ardent real estate lovers: what's your house worth this afternoon if you need to sell before 4pm? 
This is true for just about any real estate which needs a firm price offer short term.

Respectfully my point is simply that stock markets have always been an auction place where short term prices are bid and offered. If one believes shares are underpriced or overpriced short term. has ofetn little to do with intrinsic value of the asset.
