He was very clear- both the economic case for the LNG plant and the pipeline construction required were way off being economically viable.
LNG happens on the Gulf Coast because all the infrastructure was all there to start with. The economics of BC LNG are questionable, with the lack of infrastructure and distances to the gas. For the East Coast, the only 'business case' there ever was if the Germans wanted a secure supply badly enough to subsidize it to the dehree requires. Even with the war and being cut off from Russia, it turns out they did not want it THAT bad.
