RE:RE:RE:Refineries that matter to SuncorVery good points on both sides of this debate. My take is at this point to have a foot
in both camps. I agree that we are seeing the slow demise of oil refining capacity in
NA and Europe but at the same time seeing an increase in the Middle East and China
for obvious reasons. The rest of the world is not so burdened by ESG motivated
politics or social engineering like the Western democracies.
I take the position that until EV's and renewable electric power generation have
taken over from fossil fuel usage, its premature to abandon oil & gas stocks as
they may have many years of outstanding returns. That said, one can hardly
scoff or ignore the inexorable political agenda towards renewables and battery
technology. To that end I like some of the battery technology stocks who are at
the cusp of innovation. Also there are opportunities in the metals for the same reasons so copper, cobalt and lithium will be in high demand as we move towards
higher battery usage to power our civilization.
As an investor, one needs to be as open as possible to all the opportunities. We
are just entering a lengthy period of transition and it will take a while for all this to
play out. Excellent posts on this question and high value for all of us followers to
absorb. Keep it up gentlemen.
