martindale wrote: So your saying that the mine that continues to operate at Baffin Island producing 6 m tons of iron and is endangering the narwhal somehow has something to do with an inland copper project? First I’m pretty sure no narwhal will be hurt when AWM starts shoveling and sorting copper concentrate to be loaded on a ship/barge.. second have you looked at what the near term project entails? Third this is open pit mining requiring very little more than some trucks excavation and a few sorters. There is no wildlife on the island or very much vegetation, you have looked at the pictures from the island? Lastly the locals at resolute bay are supportive of the environmentally clean operation proposed.. sounds like your looking for problems that don’t exist...

The problem with the pumpers here is they have comprehension problems. If you read the article you would note that one of the issues that was cited was the increased shipping traffic as one of the reasons. This is exactly what you pumpers are saying will happen with the DSO "scoop and ship by barge or ship". You guys really need to give it up already or just keep doing what you are doing because it is providing great comedy.

From the article:

The expansion of an iron ore mine in the Arctic that would have increased shipping and led to the “complete extirpation of narwhal” from the region has been blocked.
