RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:MATAWA CHIEFS COUNCIL ISSUE FORMAL RESPONSE TO ONTARIO GOVER Hauljockey, this isn't the first time you've thrown a long term kwg poster under the race card bus. No one here is racist or borderline racist. They are frustrated with the level of incompetence being portrayed by certain groups within the native community. The money being given or not being given to the neskantaga tribe is no fault of our government but of their own political party. The government of Canada has been dealing with their tribal council (matawa). Matawa is made up of several Cree tribes, the neskantaga being one of them. Neskantaga has had years to address their points to officials and with the way they acted in the house it's No wonder no one wants to deal with them on any rational level. This isn't ford or Trudeau "bulldozing" over their land. They are the farthest community from the road and if they are being left out of any meetings it's because their tribal council didn't invite them or they didn't bother to come when the time was prudent. Look up the official documents and letters that were written along with the televised meetings with the chiefs that are approving and supporting these efforts. The money being spent on this road is immense, it's already cost millions and nothing has happened yet. Finances need to be recouped and the idea is that the ring will provide that once mining has started. Marten falls and webequie will have clean water, hydro, Internet. And with that better opportunity for generations of children. But this continuous banter of the bull shyte needs to stop. I applaud Doug Ford for sitting silent in that moment cause if it was me in his shoes I would have stood up and yelled "where the F were you two years ago/ ten years ago? We are trying to help your people and the isolated communities and being slammed into a wall whenever the light is visible at the end of this long tunnel!!! " money is going to matawa and it is up to them how much is spent on each community. It's their own governing body!! if money isn't making it to the neskantaga then it's the fault of their tribal council. I can sympathize with their frustration because the marten falls and webequie are receiving the red carpet and they feel left out. But again, they've had years to jump on board with this and have not. This road is 500 km away from them at the nearest point and does NOT affect their already contaminated water. Does NOT affect their fishing or hunting either. What this road WILL do is offer their community better resources if they advocate for it through the proper channels of their elected leaders. These issues and arguments have nothing to do with race. The government is paying for a road into two isolated communities with tax payers money! People on this board are pointing out the fact that those taxes are not paid by First Nations people's. Again, not racist, just a fact. If I dismiss the screaming inconsiderate teenager yelling behind me at the movie theatre it doesn't mean I hate all teenagers. This whole thing is about the road, mining the ring is related to that road but an altogether separate endeavour, the money that can be made ONCE mining starts is in the hundreds of billions and yes the neskantaga can be a big part of that profit, once there is a profit.
