RE:DIGGINGS - Good find.
It's curious to see that in 1936-37 the work did not produce conclusive results but that in 1981, Beaucoup Resources Limited and Aur Resources Inc. did show some interest prelim results (page 21 of your quoted PDF doc.).

1936 - MONARCH MINES, LIMITED In the summer of 1936, a two-compartment vertical shaft was completed to a depth of 150 feet, and by the end of February, 1937, approximately 1,250 feet of lateral work had been carried out on the 125-foot level. During this period, also, 2,280 feet of diamond drilling was completed, of which 1,867 feet was from underground and the remainder from the surface. The results attained in this underground work and in the diamond drilling did not indicate continuity to the vein systems. Stringers containing free gold were found in a number of places, but not in sufficient quantity to comprise a commercial ore deposit.

1937 - MONARCH MINES, LIMITED During the first few months of 1937, underground work was continued. This work failed to indicate the presence of a commercial ore deposit, and it was suspended. Diamond drilling was then resumed, and by the end of May, 1937, 4,346 feet of drilling had been completed. Some bulk samples of the vein material were shipped to the Terniskaming Testing Laboratories, at Cobalt, Ont., for treatment, and a small quantity of gold was recovered. The property was idle during the remainder of the year.
