I don’t see a contradiction.
Pyrogenesis has characterized the potential aerospace client in ways that include the possibility of it being both a tier one supplier and an OEM.
In the August 31, 2022 press release, the prospect is referred to both as “a tier one North American global aerospace company” AND as “a legendary company who continues to be a world leader in design, engineering, and manufacturing of airplanes and aerospace technology” (my bold). https://ir.pyrogenesis.com/news-releases/news-release-details/pyrogenesis-announces-commencement-factory-audit-its-nexgentm
In the September 21, 2022 press release the prospect is characterized both as a “tier one global aerospace company” and as “a leading provider in design, engineering, and manufacturing of aircraft, aerospace technology, and defense solutions” (my bold). https://ir.pyrogenesis.com/news-releases/news-release-details/pyrogenesis-announces-completion-house-audit-its-nexgentm-metal
The list of “legendary” North American global aerospace firms is not long and the companies on that list all produce both aircraft and components/systems. For instance:
Boeing supplies aircraft, like 787 Dreamliner, as an OEM as well as parts for “Boeing and non-Boeing fleets” (ergo is also Tier One company) (https://services.boeing.com/parts).
Lockheed Martin supplies aircraft, like the F-35, as an OEM, but also supplies a display and control assembly to Boeing (for the Apache helicopter) as a tier one.
Northrop Grumman supplies aircraft, like B-2, as an OEM, but also supplies “fuselage stringers and frames for the Airbus A350 XWB, composite frames for the Boeing 787, composite aft cases for the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines and engine bypass ducts.” (https://www.northropgrumman.com/what-we-do/air/advanced-composite-structures/)
So yeah, the terminolgy MidTownGuy used might just be to signal that it really is a big client (but perhaps Pyro is working with a particular tier one division).
As always, I could be wrong. In any case, I am looking forward to finally finding out who this legendary aerospace name is.
