RE:RE:EIA Annual Energy Outlook: BullishMaybe I have been on this earth too long...lol
When I read your post Obscure, and look back at the great discussion we have had here over the past while, a few thoughts come to mind that IMHO, people here should think about.
On this site we can instantaneously "talk" to people all over the world and share ideas. Migraine is in Thailand, others are spending the winter in Mexico. In January I was in New Zealand.
So what!!
Well back in the 1960s Marshall McLuhan wrote a book where he talked about a "global village" where people from all over the world call talk to each other instantaneously in real time. At that time, many skeptics called his idea crazy and the stuff of science fiction (it would never happen!). We are living in that world he predicted and have been for quite a while. Many people reading this post know of no other world! Amazing!!
With that as backgound, rightly or wrongly, I see a parallel discussion here as to what took place in the 60s when McLuhan wrote his book or the discussion that took place in the 70s as NT started working on a digital switch and Intel was figuring out how to build a microprocessor. The people who were stuck in the "old ways" and couldn't accept that the world was changing missed the opportunity of a lifetime.
Frankly, in regards to oil we are experiencing a generational shift and people have the choice to embrace this change and make a lot of money or not accept it and lose out. It is really that simple!!
I may be old and dodgy but I still have a deep respect for the power of change and I continually look for ways to harness the power of that change to make money. If anything over the years, I have learned that if you fight change or don't believe it will happen, you will end up with the short stick.
