There are enough pilots. FAA/union created rules that require 1500 hour's of flight time while rest of world doesnt and the safety track shows the 1500 hour's in USA does not better in then less experience pilots flying regional in Europe.

Also regional Airlines dont pay enough so most go to bigger.

Regional in small part is suffering from pilot shortage but bigger problem is the routes are not profitable enough with low pax numbers and higher fuel cost. Thats not including maintenance cost which has also gone up.
