SAGE.v Sets Sights on Becoming a Major US Potash Producer Sage Potash Corp (SAGE.v) ended the week on a high note, closing up 8.7% today.
Seeing a large gap in American potash production, SAGE has the goal of becoming a major domestic producer of Potash in the US.
Despite the USA being the world's biggest agricultural exporter and 3rd biggest food producer, the country only produces 5% of the potash that it takes to keep its massive agricultural sector running.
Seeing that the US could greatly benefit from increased domestic potash production, SAGE has acquired 83,000 acres of potash exploration land in Utah's Paradox Basin. This basin is estimated to host 28% of the country's potash resources, making it an ideal location for potash exploration.
Within SAGE's lands is its Sage Plain Potash Project. This project is thought to contain America's largest untapped potash deposit. Including its upper and lower potash beds, the project has an inferred resource of 280 million metric tonnes of potash.
SAGE has a short production timeline for the Sage Plain Project, estimating that they will be able to reach production in 1-2 years.
