Clive Johnson's B2Gold Corp. (BTO) fell 12 cents to $5.12 on 7.17 million shares on word that it has drilled a 46.4-metre interval averaging 8.6 grams of gold per tonne at its Fekola project in southwestern Mali. That headline hit was one of several new encouraging results from the Mamba zone. The company also applauded a 12-metre interval averaging 5.96 grams per tonne from one of several new holes in the Cobra zone, an 11-metre hit averaging 11.3 grams per tonne in the Taipan zone and a 5.8-metre interval averaging 25.73 grams per tonne in the Dandoko zone. At last report, B2Gold credited its Fekola complex -- the mine and surrounding exploration targets -- with 147.6 million tonnes indicated at 1.33 grams per tonne, for about 6.33 million ounces, and 85.5 million tonnes inferred at 1.12 grams per tonne providing 3.07 million additional ounces. Meanwhile, B2Gold's current reserve lists 56.7 million tonnes at 1.74 grams per tonne, about 3.17 million ounces, so there is plenty of work for the drillers to do this year. |
